Gucheung-am(구층암) is a peaceful tea farm full of nature. Nearby are paths through the bamboo grove behind Hwaeon-sa  full of sounds from the nearby stream. Our ancestors used to say “It lies among bamboos with a long stream running musically beside it. A very beautiful spot!” Gucheung-am has served as a meditation hall, a teaching hall, a home to a community, and a place for ascetic practice. Its historic buildings are simple and natural. The hall, containing statues of a thousand Buddhas, is small and beautiful, with a solemn atmosphere.

The entire dormitory has six to seven rooms called Ondol room, a traditional Korean structure. There are usually two or three extra rooms available for the Wwoofer, and if there are too many people, they can share the room.
